Tyrese Gibson has dropped his $1 million lawsuit against Home Depot after he claimed that the store racially profiled him during one visit.
Tyrese filed the lawsuit back in August 2023. He says that he shopped and then took his items to a cashier’s register but left the store for over 25 minutes while his associates paid for the transaction.
“Gibson asked the cashier if the cashier needed anything further from him to complete the transaction. The cashier said no, and that Gibson could leave,” his lawsuit read.
He says that the cashier refused to complete the transaction and that he and his associates were discriminated against because of their skin color.
Home Depot denied the allegations at the time.
“[Tyrese], a celebrity with 19.5 million Instagram followers, has publicly posted information – such as the video recordings taken on the date of the incident, which were objected to by at least one employee,” a rep for the company said. “These postings were then shared and reposted including by media outlets. A protective order will prevent public dissemination of private communications of non-parties that were never intended to be public.”
Tyrese dismissed all of his claims with prejudice, meaning he can refile at a later date.
