THE Flamingos of Nigeria will begin their quest to reach the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup at the second round stage of the African qualifying series.
The Flamingos are set to face the winners of the preliminary round tie between Niger Republic and Guinea.
The first leg of the second round is scheduled for between May 22 and May 24, with the return leg billed for one week later.
The winners on aggregate over the two legs will advance to the third and final qualifying round.
In the third round, the first leg matches will be played between July 3 and July 5, while the second legs are fixed for the following week.
Successful teams at the end of the qualifiers will secure their places at the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, which will be hosted by Morocco in October.
The Flamingos remain one of Africa’s most consistent performers at women’s U-17 level and will be aiming to return to the global stage after their last outing ended in disappointment.
The Flamingos were eliminated in the round of 16 of the last FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup following a 4-0 defeat to Italy.
