U.S. Congressman Riley M. Moore met Wednesday with a senior Nigerian delegation led by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu to address the escalating persecution of Christians and the persistent threat of terrorism in Nigeria.
The lawmaker described the discussions as “frank, honest, and productive,” focusing on counterterrorism cooperation, security assistance, and the protection of vulnerable Christian communities across the country.
The high-level Nigerian delegation included Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Bianca Ojukwu, Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi, Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede, and Chief of Defence Intelligence Lt. Gen. EAP Undiendeye, among other top officials.
In a statement posted on X, Moore emphasised that he made it “crystal clear” to the delegation that the United States expects tangible action to end violence, persecution, displacement, and killings of Christians simply for their faith.
Moore stressed America’s readiness to partner with Nigeria against Boko Haram, ISWAP, and Fulani militants, particularly in the Northeast and Middle Belt regions, while urging the Nigerian government to deepen cooperation with the incoming Trump administration and Congress.
He warned that the U.S. will closely monitor developments and expects Nigeria to accept offers of assistance to halt the bloodshed and disrupt terrorist networks targeting Christian populations.
