U20 AFCON: 25 Flying Eagles for Morocco

Barring any last minute change of plan, Flying Eagles gaffer, Ladan Isah Bosso has picked 25 players who will fly out of Nigeria to Morocco on Wednesday February 8, 2023 for a training camp ahead of the U20 AFCON qualifiers in Egypt.

Bosso has opened up the team who won the U20 AFCON qualifiers WAFU B in May 2022 in Niger Republic by dropping half of that squad.

The 10 players who survived Bosso’s purge from the qualifiers are: Nathaniel Nwosu, Chijioke Anigboso, Saheed Akanbi, Augustine Njoku, Daniel Daga, Onuche Ogbelu, Mohammed Aminu, Samson Lawal, Haliru Sarki and Ibrahim Mohammed ‘Ibeji’

The provisional selection has nine players from the NPFL and two foreign-based professionals, namely Trelleborgs of Sweden defender Abel Ogwuche and Michael Ologo from Turkish Super Lig side Istanbulspor.

After the training stint in Morocco, where the team will play two warm-up games, four players will be dropped for a final 21-man squad to be submitted to CAF latest February 9.

The Flying Eagles open their U20 AFCON campaign against Senegal on February 19 in Cairo, Egypt.

Defenders: Daniel Bamaiyi, Michael Ologo, Abel Ogwuche, Solomon Agbalaka, Augustine Njoku, Benjamin Frederick, Femi Abubakar

Forwards: Jude Sunday, Francis Ayuba, Adams Olamilekan, Segun Otusanya, Haliru Sarki, Emmanuel Uchegbu, Ibrahim Mohammed ‘Ibeji’
