Ugandan woman k!lls her husband, buries body under bedroom floor

Underbed

A 43-year-old Ugandan woman, Sharon Nshemereirwe, has been accused of murdering her husband, Beinomugisha, and secretly burying his body beneath their bedroom floor.

The shocking incident occurred in Kaniga I village, Buhweju district, and has left the rural community reeling.

Police say Nshemereirwe allegedly struck her husband with a hammer while he slept on the night of April 13, 2025, then wrapped his body in bedding and tarpaulin before burying him in a shallow grave.

For weeks, she reportedly told relatives he had gone to South Sudan for work, but suspicions grew. The truth emerged when she allegedly confessed to a sibling, leading to a police investigation and the eventual exhumation of Beinomugisha’s body.

At the time of the murder, five people, including a newborn and two other children, lived in the house. Questions have also been raised about the paternity of the baby Nshemereirwe was breastfeeding and claims of hidden land deals.

A woman found in the house during the investigation denied being a maid and added to the mystery. Local leaders suspect the murder may be linked to a recent land sale by the deceased.

The case remains under investigation as the community grapples with its disturbing revelations.
