Manchester United’s deadline day signing Manuel Ugarte has revealed that he is prepared to take on the great responsibility that comes with playing for such a legendary club, Soccernet.football reports.

Ugarte, who finalized his £50.5 million transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last week, was officially unveiled to United fans before their 3-0 loss to Liverpool on Sunday. The 23-year-old midfielder marks Erik ten Hag’s fifth signing of the transfer window and is expected to slot into United’s midfield after the international break.

The Uruguay international also revealed that La Celeste teammate and former Man United winger Facundo Pellistri, played a part in convincing him to make the switch from Paris to Manchester.

“First and foremost, its history, because we all know what a massive club United is – one of the best teams in the world,” Ugarte said of his desire to join the club.

“I also spoke a lot with Facu Pellistri and he told me all about everything: the atmosphere that’s generated, the matchday atmosphere that builds up at Old Trafford is incredible.

“So yes, I’m really excited. I’d love to experience United’s legendary stadium as a player and feel the presence of the supporters.”

Ugarte went on to explain that he is aware of what will be expected of him when he makes his debut, having had time to watch some games and speak to Bruno Fernandes and Lisandro Martinez about the club.

“I’ve watched a few games since the news started to come out,” he added. “I’ve also spoken with one or two players – with Bruno and Licha – and I have chatted quite a lot.

“So yes, I’m really thrilled and more than anything eager and excited, while I obviously realise that it’s a great responsibility and I’m prepared for that.”

Ugarte could potentially make his United debut after the international break, when the Red Devils take on Southampton at the St. Mary’s on Saturday, September 14.
