Unity among Ekiti security agencies has reduced crime, says panel chair

The Chairman, Joint Security Committee of Emure, Ikere and Ise communities in Ekiti State, Elder Tunji Falana, on Wednesday lauded the synergy among security agencies in their council areas which he said had reduced the incidence of crime.

Falana, however, advised people of the zone comprising Emure, Ikere and Ise/Orun local government areas “to be security conscious, avoid night travels. Also, they should be modest in celebration during Yuletide, be discreet about plans, movements and above all, report strange moves, face and occurrences to the security agencies for necessary action.”

The security panel chairman, in a Christmas message titled, “Yuletide: JSC tasks security, residents on a crime-free season, peaceful celebrations”, appealed to the people of the area and indeed the state to play their roles in ensuring crime-free, hitch-free and safe Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Falana assured the people of Emure, Ikere and Ise Ekiti that “the security agencies in the three local government areas including police, Amotekun Corps, Vigilante Corps and local hunters have been put on the alert to ensure peaceful and crime-free Yuletide.

He said, “The synergy among the security outfits in the three local government areas is appreciated. The synergy has brought about a drastic reduction of kidnapping, cultists activities and other crimes in this zone.

“We appreciate our traditional rulers – the Elemure of Emure, Oba Emmanuel Adebayo; the Arinjale of Ise Ekiti, Oba Adetunji Ajayi; and the Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti, Oba Adejimi Adu-Alagbado for their supports to the JSC which have been the reason for the successes achieved in taming crime in the area.”

Falana reiterated the committee’s zero tolerance for crime and criminalities, urging parents and well-meaning individuals to expose internet fraudsters, cultists, cannabis farmers, buyers and smokers in their neighbourhood for arrest and prosecution to achieve a saner society.

He said, “The JSC wishes the traditional rulers and the entire people of the three local government areas and indeed Ekiti State merry Christmas and prosperous New Year.”

Atiku laments rising insecurity

Former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has condemned the preponderance of violence and insecurity across the northern states of the federation.

Abubakar remarked this while in Sokoto, the state Capital to condole Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal over the death of his elder brother who died week.

The former Vice President wondered why the situation has remained unabated under the present government.

“The unnecessary loss of lives and brigandage that has cascaded into Sokoto state from the North East, where we have been under the siege of terrorists for more than a decade.”

He however extended his condolence to the government and people of the state for the recent killings of some citizens by bandits in the state.

“Our purpose for visiting you today is two-fold. One is to condole you over the death of your elder brother.

“The second reason is to condole the people and government of Sokoto over the unnecessary loss of lives and brigandage that has cascaded into Sokoto state from the North East, where we have been under the siege of terrorists for more than a decade.

“Now, it has spread to almost all parts of the North.

He prayed that God gives the country a good leader that will spearhead the eradication of the menace.

In his condolence message, the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan who was accompanied by Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state, three Senators; Barau Jibrin, Bello Mandiya and Ahmed Babba Kaita, extended the condolences of the entire National Assembly to the Governor.

“We have come to commiserate with you, your family and government and the people of Sokoto State on the demise of your brother.

“We have come to condole you. As Muslims, we know that every life must taste death. We pray, especially, for the repose of the soul of our brother.

“I want to take this opportunity to condole you on behalf of all other members of the National Assembly,” he stressed.

He further remarked: “Your Excellency, you are one of us on loan, having reached the zenith of the House of Representatives where you served longer than you are serving here.”

He said: “the two chambers have asked me to convey their message of condolence to you.”

The Senate President also prayed that God should repose the soul of the deceased.

Others on the condolence visit to Governor Tambuwal included the Emirs of Anka and Maradun in Zamfara state, Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad Muhammad and Alhaji Bello Muhammad Barmo respectively.

I have forgiven those who gang up against me – Bagudu

Kebbi State Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has said that he has forgiven all those who gang up against him in the state.

Governor Bagudu stated this during the official flag-off of the All Progressive Congress( APC) campaign for the party’s Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates in the forthcoming local government election bill to take place on February 2022.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Chika Malami, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah, the former governor of the state, Alhaji Saadu Nasamu Dakingari, Major General Muhammad Magoro (retd) and other stakeholders attended the ceremony at Kamba town in Dandi Local Government Area.

Addressing the party members, Governor Bagudu recalled how Malami step down for him during the party’s primary which enable him to clinch the gubernatorial ticket of the party without any rancour.

“Our government is a government that is engaging our youths for the development of the state. Our state is blessed with many rice processing companies which is the outcome of President Muhammad Buhari administration commitment to the agriculture revolution,” the governor said.

“I have also forgiven those who gang up against me,” he said.

The governor urged members of the party to continue to live peacefully with others in the state and charged them to work hard for the success of the APC in the local government election.

Earlier, the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Chika Malami, SAN, who cited a Qur’an verse during his remarks, noted that, no matter how long falsehood flies, the truth will overcome it one day.

He described Bagudu as a man with good character, stressed that his leadership quality made his colleagues at the Progressive Governors’ Forum elected him as their chairman.

Malami urged all members of the party to team up for the total victory of their candidates in the forthcoming local government election.

In his remark, the former governor of the state, Alhaji Dakingari, described the successful hosting of the flag-off of the party local government election campaign in Kamba as a testimony that Kebbi is an APC state.

Dakingari, who appealed to party members to continue to embrace dialogue, peace, said the doors of the APC are still open for dialogue from aggrieved members of the party.

The state chairman of the party, Alhaji Sani Muhammad Lolo, urged members of the party to come out en mass to vote for all APC candidates in the forthcoming local government election.
