Authorities at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana have started issuing ID cards for the cats on their campus.

This initiative is aimed at promoting the welfare of these cats.

The program began with two cats that stay around the main administrative block; their names, as printed on the ID cards, are Kwasi Joe and Kofi Sam.

The idea is part of the university’s efforts to encourage the proper treatment of animals on campus and to support environmental health.

“These cats have been on campus for many years, helping to control pests and forming friendly relationships with students and staff,” the university said.

The new ID cards, labeled “University Cat,” include the cats’ names and the areas of campus where they live, allowing people across the university to participate in feeding and providing veterinary care for them.
