Iranian envoy Abdul Majid Hakeem Ilahi says the US accepted Tehran’s conditions for a ceasefire, calling the outcome a “victory” and defending Iran’s nuclear stance and regional position.
Abdul Majid Hakeem Ilahi, Representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader in India has described the recent ceasefire in the Iran conflict as a “victory” for Tehran, asserting that the United States ultimately conceded to Iranian terms after failing to meet its objectives.
Speaking to CNN-News18, Ilahi said the ceasefire agreement reflected Washington’s acceptance of Tehran’s conditions rather than any compromise from Iran. “Iran did not accept anything, the US accepted our terms,” he said.
He framed the outcome of the conflict as a demonstration of Iranian resilience, claiming that the country “stood its ground and fought bravely,” forcing the United States to recognise that it “could not achieve anything” through military pressure.
On concerns surrounding global energy flows, Ilahi said the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route — remained open throughout the conflict, with only brief and temporary disruptions during peak tensions.
The envoy also pushed back against narratives of Iran’s isolation, asserting that Tehran continues to maintain strong international relationships and intends to strengthen them further.
Criticising Washington’s role, Ilahi accused the US of attempting to destabilise the region while benefiting from increased arms sales. Those efforts, he said, “did not succeed.”
On regional dynamics, he said Israel “is not under anyone’s control” and suggested that the strategic situation for the country had shifted following the conflict, including in relation to Hezbollah. He also dismissed speculation about external mediation, stating that China played no role in securing the ceasefire.
Reiterating Iran’s long-standing nuclear position, Ilahi said Tehran does not seek nuclear weapons and defended uranium enrichment as a sovereign right for peaceful purposes such as healthcare and electricity. He referenced the nuclear agreement reached under the Obama administration and noted that Donald Trump had opposed it.
In a broader message, Ilahi called on countries affected by the conflict to unite in order to prevent future US military interventions, signalling that Iran views the episode as part of a wider geopolitical struggle rather than an isolated confrontation.
