Venus Williams has always done things her own way — and now she’s giving relationship advice too.
The tennis legend, 45, recently married Italian actor Andrea Preti, 37, in a lavish, multi-day celebration that spanned Italy and Florida. And on the morning of their Palm Beach ceremony, Venus and Preti sat down with her sister Serena Williams on their podcast Stockton Street to talk about love, marriage, and what really matters when choosing a partner.
According to Venus, there were three non-negotiables when deciding if someone was “the one.”
“You marry their family,” Venus explained. “So when you’re thinking about a relationship for eternity, it’s about good family, good values, and has a job.”
She doubled down, adding that refusing to work can add “a lot of pressure” and “stress” to a marriage. Attraction matters too, she said — but it should come from who a person is, not just how they look.
Sounds solid, right?

But here’s where fans started scratching their heads.
Because when Media Take Out did a little digging into Venus’ new husband’s career… the “has a job” part got a little fuzzy.
Andrea Preti is publicly described as a model, actor, and producer. That all sounds impressive on paper — but when we searched for recent work, things got quiet fast.
We couldn’t find any modeling campaigns from Preti in the past five years. His last credited acting role appears to be from several years ago. And while he does have a few production credits, they don’t seem to be regular or ongoing projects.
So the big question becomes:
Does Andrea Preti actually have a job — consistently?
To be clear, there is nothing wrong with creative careers, slow seasons, or building behind the scenes. But Venus herself made “has a job” one of her top three requirements — so naturally, fans are now wondering how that rule applies here.
During the podcast, Preti was full of praise for the Williams family.
“Marrying this beautiful soul is a dream come true,” he said, calling Venus his “sweetheart” and saying he finally felt like part of a real family.
Serena, who attended the wedding with her husband Alexis Ohanian and their two daughters, also gushed about the union, calling Venus radiant and saying she was proud to stand beside her.
And honestly? Venus looks happy. Glowing. In love.
Still, the internet can’t help but ask:
If one of your biggest rules is that your partner must have a job…
What counts as a job when you’re married to a multi-millionaire icon?
We’ll let y’all decide.
