There was drama on Sunday in Ile-Ife when First Lady Senator Remi Tinubu clashed with Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke during the 10th coronation anniversary of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
At the event, Senator Tinubu was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Yeye-Asiwaju of Ile Oodua.
Governor Adeleke, alongside dignitaries including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, incumbent and former governors, senators, and traditional rulers, took to the podium to give a speech.
In his usual style, Adeleke danced briefly and began singing during his address.
According to videos circulating on social media, Senator Tinubu approached him and said: “I’m giving you five minutes to finish your speech. The music is enough.” Adeleke continued singing, prompting the First Lady to return and warn: “I will turn off the microphone. Stop the music.”
The incident quickly went viral online.
Governor Adeleke, who resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) citing internal crises, has been exploring other political platforms ahead of the 2026 governorship election. On December 2, Adedamola Adebayo was announced as the PDP’s candidate for Osun State.
