The Senator representing the Abia North senatorial district, Orji Uzor Kalu has commended President Bola Tinubu for cancelling his scheduled trip to South Africa and Angola amidst several incidents of insecurity across the country.
Naijaonpoint reports that Tinubu was scheduled to visit Abuja to attend the 20th G20 Summit of leaders in South Africa and thereafter proceed to Luanda to attend the 7th AU-EU Summit.
However, he cancelled the trip due to reports of increased bandit attacks.
Reacting to the development via a video shared on social media, Kalu said Tinubu has proven that he cares about the state of the affairs in the nation.
He said, ‘’The President is human and for the last 24 hours, the President has been very sad. He heard about Ilorin. He has been very sad and all his commitments in Angola and other parts of the world has been cancelled.
“Honestly, I want to commend President Tinubu for the decision he has taken to stay back to mourn the girls and have serious inhouse meeting with the security operatives of Nigeria. He is very concerned and very bothered and we are bothered in the National Assembly.
“The mood of the Nation..you can see also the governor of Taraba state who is supposed to be declaring for the APC today, cancelled the whole event because of this same problem. Many activities have gone down, President Tinubu has shown leadership, shown concern, fatherly care for the children kidnapped in Kebbi. This is how it should be’’
