WATCH: Biden Says Pelosi ‘Helped Rescue The Economy’ During ‘The Great Depression’

A clip of President Joe Biden from last week is circulating online showing the president claiming that former Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rescued America from “The Great Depression.”

Biden, speaking at the 2023 Emily’s List Gala, praised Pelosi for always having the votes to pass major pieces of the party’s legislative agenda during a period of economic unrest for the nation between 2007 and 2009 often referred to as the Great Recession. The Great Depression occurred between 1929 and 1941.

“With Nancy leading the way, you never had to worry about whether the bill would pass. If she said she had the votes, she had the votes every time. She had the votes for so many life-changing pieces of legislation. She helped rescue the economy in the Great Depression,” Biden said.

The president’s gaffe has been memorialized in a transcript released by the White House which was still available Tuesday morning.

As Biden’s public missteps have mounted — both figuratively and literally — the White House has restricted reporters’ access to the president, who has held zero solo press conferences since the start of the year. The Washington Post editorial board publicly asked Biden, “What are you afraid of?” after several public incidents in which the president sidestepped or outright ignored shouted questions from reporters.  After press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre claimed Biden has taken more questions than his previous three predecessors combined, the White House quietly amended her transcript to correct the falsehood.

Forgetfulness by the president only fuels concerns that he is too old for the world’s most demanding job. Sixty-eight percent of voters believe Biden is too old to serve a second term, and top Democrats are starting to publicly acknowledge the problem as well. After Biden nearly face-planted at the G7 summit, Hillary Clinton admitted that the president’s age will be a serious issue in next year’s election.
