Super Eagles and Fulham centre-back Calvin Bassey celebrated Nigeria’s win over Benin by lifting the President of the Nigerian Football Federation, Soccernet.ng reports.
Eric Chelle’s side needed to defeat the Cheetahs of Benin by at least a four-goal margin at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo yesterday evening.
Osimhen scored three minutes into the game to settle any early nerves, and then added another two goals later on in the game before he was withdrawn in the 81st minute by Tolu Arokodare.

Frank Onyeka completed the rout for Nigeria in the 91st minute to help them seal a play-off spot after South Africa defeated Rwanda.
While all of Nigeria were delighted after hopes of a place in the World Cup were rekindled, the NFF President, Ibrahim Gusua, joined in the celebrations on the pitch, and was lifted by Calvin Bassey. Watch the video here.
“This is a moment of happiness, yet we’ve got a great task to qualify for the World Cup through the Playoffs,” the 61-year-old wrote on his official Instagram account.
“We will continue to do our best, and just like Nigerians stood with us all through to this level, we pray that we will continue to stand by each other to the end and may God see us through.
“Thank you, Super Eagles, for making us proud,” the President of the Football Federation concluded.
