Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali’s late blunder gifted TS Galaxy a 1-0 win over Chippa United in Saturday’s Premier Soccer League clash at Mbombela Stadium, Soccernet.football reports.
The Nigeria international, who has been a key figure for Chippa this season, made a crucial mistake in the 80th minute.
Attempting to launch an attack with a throw, Nwabali’s pass was intercepted by former Croatia U21 and Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Damir Sovsic. The 33-year-old took full advantage, unleashing a brilliant strike that left Nwabali with no chance, sealing victory for the Rockets.

It was a frustrating night for Chippa, who had matched Galaxy for much of the contest. The defeat leaves the Chilli Boys in 11th place in the league table, with 18 points from 15 matches.
Despite the costly error, coach Thabo September is expected to stand by his captain, who has been a consistent performer this season.
Nwabali, 28, has registered four clean sheets in 14 league appearances and has been one of Chippa’s standout players. The goalkeeper has also shown remarkable resilience off the pitch, having tragically lost both parents within a short space of time.
With little time to dwell on the disappointment, Nwabali and Chippa must quickly regroup ahead of their next challenge.
They face a rejuvenated Kaizer Chiefs side on February 15 in the Nedbank Cup – a game that presents an immediate opportunity for redemption.
