Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe traveled to Morocco to support his best friend Achraf Hakimi in Morocco’s AFCON 2025 game against Mali on Friday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Mbappe and Hakimi have been very close since their days together at French giants Paris Saint-Germain. The two frequently share videos of themselves together and have even admitted just how close they are.
Mbappe left PSG for Real Madrid last year, but their relationship has remained strong.

This was on full display on Friday, as the French star was spotted in the VIP box for Morocco’s second game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations at the Complexe Sportif Moulay Abdallah. Mbappe was seen wearing Hakimi’s trademark number 2 shirt under a black jacket.
According to CentreGoals, Hakimi even invited Mbappe and his entire family.

The game eventually ended 1-1 after 90 minutes. Mbappe’s Real Madrid teammate, Brahim Diaz, scored the opener just before the stroke of halftime, but Lassine Sinayoko equalized from the spot in the 64th minute.

Hakimi, who is still recovering from an injury, did not feature in the game at all. The PSG star will likely return to action during the knockout rounds.
Mbappe’s African Heritage
Kylian Mbappe currently plays for the French national team. In fact, he already has 94 caps for Les Bleus.
However, the 27-year-old attacker could have easily played for an African country because of his heritage.

Mbappe was born to an Algerian mother and a Cameroonian father, but he decided to represent the country of his birth, France.
That decision has been productive, as he has already won the World Cup with France—something he might not have been able to achieve if he had played for an African nation. Currently, Mbappe is one of the world’s richest and most successful footballers.
