Super Eagles winger Nathan Tella has been nominated for Bayer Leverkusen’s Goal of the Month award for January, Soccernet.football reports.
The 25-year-old is one of four players in contention for the accolade, alongside Alejandro Grimaldo, Florian Wirtz, and Patrik Schick.
Tella’s nomination comes after his impressive strike in Leverkusen’s thrilling 3-2 Bundesliga victory over Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park on January 10.

The goal, his first of the season, saw him capitalise on a defensive mix-up before unleashing a precise half-volley from the edge of the box that left Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel with no chance.
Since joining Leverkusen from Southampton, Tella has gradually worked his way into Xabi Alonso’s plans. While he struggled for regular minutes last season, he has featured more prominently this campaign, making 16 Bundesliga appearances so far, contributing one goal and an assist.
Tella faces stiff competition for the award, with Grimaldo nominated for his exquisite free-kick against FSV Mainz, Wirtz recognised for his fine finish against Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Schick earning a spot for his goal against RB Leipzig.
Among the shortlisted goals, Tella’s strike stands out as one of the most technically impressive, with his clean half-volley showing outstanding technique. However, Grimaldo’s free-kick is also a strong contender, given the precision and quality of the strike.
The final decision rests with the fans, who will determine the winner through a voting process.
