Wayne Brady says life feels lighter since he publicly came out as pansexual, and he hopes his openness can help others feel less alone.
In a recent PEOPLE in 10 interview, the 53-year-old entertainer reflected on how things have changed since he shared his truth in 2023. “It hasn’t changed in the big sense of, ‘Oh I’m out dating,’” Brady said. “I’m kind of keeping to myself.” Still, he described the personal impact as deeply positive.
Brady said he is especially mindful of younger people who may be struggling. “If there’s any little Black or brown kid growing up anywhere who feels ashamed or less than, I hope they see me and think, ‘Maybe I can be verbal about myself,’” he explained. “So I don’t have to carry that rock.”
Since coming out, Brady says he feels more grounded and joyful. “I feel lighter, because I’m me,” he said. “That lets me be a better actor, a better performer, a better dad, and a better partner someday. I’m happier. I’m brighter.”
The Let’s Make a Deal host is dad to Maile Masako Brady, 22, whom he shares with ex-wife Mandie Taketa.
