The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on its members and supporters to remain vigilant over desperate moves by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate in the last election, Asue Ighodalo.
The ruling APC made this known in a statement to Naijaonpoint on Friday signed by the State Chairman, Jarret Tenebe.
He warned of attempts by the PDP and Ighodalo to manipulate the ongoing Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.
His statement read: “As Chairman of the APC in Edo State, I am deeply concerned about the ongoing Governorship Tribunal case. This case has significant implications for the democratic process, the rule of law, and the rights of our citizens.
“We urge all members of our party, as well as the general public, to remain vigilant and closely monitor the developments in this case. We must ensure that the opposition PDP and its desperate candidate, Asue Ighodalo, do not manipulate the process.
“After their attempt on Wednesday to use thugs in disrupting the Tribunal proceedings, we can not trust them again not to do more. We must be vigilant.
“We call upon the Judiciary to act with impartiality and fairness and to ensure that all parties involved are treated equitably. We also urge all parties involved in the case to conduct themselves with respect and dignity and to refrain from any actions that may undermine the judicial process.”
Tenebe said the APC will continue to monitor the Tribunal case closely and will take all necessary steps to ensure that the rights and interests of the party and its candidate, Governor Monday Okpebholo, are protected.
