FLYING Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubair has charged his players to ensure victory when they face Colombia in the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile on Sunday.

The Nigerian side defeated Saudi Arabia 3-2 in the early hours of today to restore hopes of advancing to the second round.

The Flying Eagles had lost their opening match 1-0 to Norway and needed the victory against Saudi Arabia to stay alive in the competition.

Zubair praised his players’ never-say-die attitude which saw them score in stoppage time through captain Daniel Bameyi to beat the stubborn Saudis, and demanded more of the same from them against Colombia.

“The players made up their minds that they had to go all out for the three points against Saudi Arabia and that is what motivated them,” Zubair said.

“Now it’s simple — we have to go all out for the three points against Colombia.”

Victory for the Flying Eagles against Colombia (kickoff 12 midnight Nigerian time) on Sunday night/Monday morning will guarantee passage into the round of 16, while a draw could also be good enough.
