Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has confirmed that the club has tabled a formal offer for Nigeria international Ademola Lookman, who is currently contracted to Serie A rivals Atalanta, Footynaija.com reports.

The Nerazzurri are believed to have offered €40 million for the in-form winger, although Atalanta reportedly value the 27-year-old closer to €50 million and remain under no pressure to sell, with Lookman tied down until June 2027.

Lookman has also attracted interested from Napoli and Barcelona and a number of top clubs in the Premier League.

However, it is Inter Milan who have shown genuine interest with a concrete bid.

Speaking to multiple Italian outlets including Football-Italia, Ausilio said:

We have a very good rapport of friendship and respect with Atalanta.

“I can confirm that we spoke and communicated what our expectations are to Atalanta. We really like Lookman and would like to sign him, but he is an Atalanta player, and we must try to find an agreement, we will not have infinite negotiations.

“Evidently, we have shown a preference for this player, we hope that the offer we made can be considered satisfactory.

“What matters is what Atalanta want to do. He is our preferred option, but if we are not able to get Lookman, then we will work towards other targets.”

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Lookman has agreed personal terms with Inter, making them his top choice this summer.

His representatives are believed to have held direct talks with the Nerazzurri as Inter look to reinforce their squad ahead of the new campaign.
