WhatsApp testing an option to send HD photos
WhatsApp is believed to be working on an option to allow users to send higher resolution photos.
In the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS and Android, WABetaInfo reports that some users have access to a new option for photo quality. The Photo Quality option appears when the user selects a photo large in size.
WABetaInfo says the Photo Quality option maintains the image dimensions, but there will still be some light compression of the image. WhatsApp users can choose between Standard Quality (1,600 x 1,052) and HD Quality (4,096 x 2,692). The default option is Standard Quality for any photos sent via WhatsApp. When users send HD photos, there will be a HD tag added to the bottom left corner of the message bubble.
