Umar Sani, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stated that he was more convinced by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s claim about Nyesom Wike’s alleged political motivations for the PDP than by Wike’s denial.
Sani made the statement in a video uploaded on Symfoni, in which he discussed the ongoing conflicts and allegations between the leaders of the opposition party. See What Happened.
The PDP member referred to an earlier assertion made by Governor Makinde, who claimed that Wike had openly stated during a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that he would help weaken the PDP in favor of the dominant All Progressives Congress (APC).
In response to the claim and Wike’s subsequent rejection, Sani said he had more faith in Makinde’s account of events, noting that the governor is known for being thoughtful and outspoken.
Furthermore, Sani stated that he found Makinde’s version of events more plausible than Wike’s denial when the two sides provided conflicting accounts.
“He [Makinde] is not someone known to be careless or verbose. He is a man who lives by his beliefs, and you will discover the truth in everything he says. Because Wike is capable of denying anything, I had more faith in Makinde than in Wike when he made that statement and Wike refuted it,” Sani added.
