A passenger has publicly called out a female conductor of an Ayalolo BRT bus, registration number GS 1588-16, for allegedly collecting fares below the approved rate without issuing proper receipts on the Circle to Pokuase route.
According to the passenger, the conductor demanded GH₵5 from him instead of the approved GH₵6 fare, and did so without providing a ticket.
When he insisted on getting a receipt, he says she handed him an old, previously used one rather than a valid ticket for his journey.
He recorded the exchange, arguing that the conductor appeared to be deliberately avoiding proper documentation in order to pocket the fare rather than have it recorded for accountability purposes.
The passenger is now urging transport authorities to investigate the matter to prevent potential revenue loss.
His concerns echo broader, long-documented challenges within Ghana’s Ayalolo bus system, which has faced repeated criticism over the years for operational and financial mismanagement issues, including idle buses, e-card payment shortages, and accountability gaps within the World Bank-funded BRT project.
The identity of the conductor hasn’t been established yet.
