Rajiv Singh is an IPS officer of the 1993 batch and while his DOB isn’t known, he is aged between 50-60 years. He was serving as the IG (Inspector General ) of the operations at the CRPF headquarters based in Delhi, India. Rajiv Singh replaced P Doungal, who is an IPS officer of the 1987 batch officer from Manipur. Dougal has been offered ... of Officer on the Special Duty (Home). The Appointments Committee of Cabinet revealed the inter-cadre deputation of Singh. Singh hails from the Tripura cadre and has been appointed to the Manipur cadre “for a tenure of 3 years.
In the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department, Special Secretary N Geoffrey revealed that Rajiv Singh is the new DGP of Manipur and the Head of the Police Force immediately upon joining the state government.
In Manipur, there is a conflict that has been going on for a month. The state witnessed a sudden spurt in the clashes and firing between militants and the security forces on Sunday.
A number of people have died in the state after ethnic violence started on the 3rd of May, 2023. The death has gone up to 80, as per the authorities.
The violence broke when the ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organized in hill districts to protest the Meitei community’s demand for the Scheduled Tribe (ST) status. It is followed by the tension over the eviction of Kuki villagers from reserve forest land. This led to a series of smaller agitations.
After violence has broken out, the central government appointed a former chief of CRPF Kuldeep Singh as their security adviser. Amit Shah visited the state from 29 May to 1 June and during that time ex-DGP P Doungal was not a part of the security meetings addressed by the Chief Minister.
