Authorities in the Phoenix metro area have announced the arrest of a suspect Iren Byers believed to be responsible for a string of five shootings, know his bio and age

The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Iren Byers, was taken into custody in Mesa on Sunday. Byers has admitted to carrying out the shootings, which occurred on Friday night, and is now facing multiple charges, including four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

Nicholas Arnstad, a 41-year-old man, was the first victim, found dead from a gunshot wound to the head on Friday afternoon. Julian Cox, also 41 years old, was the second victim, engaged in a conversation with the gunman about narcotics.

His body was discovered later that evening. Stephen Young, 41, was killed near a Mesa light rail station after mentioning fentanyl. John Swain, a 40-year-old homeless man, became the fourth victim. The final victim, Angela Fonseca, 36, survived the incident but sustained serious injuries. Byers met Fonseca at a hotel in Mesa.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the shootings, and additional charges may be filed as the case progresses. The arrest of Iren Byers brings some relief to the Phoenix metro area, as residents can now feel safer knowing that a suspect is in custody.
