Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, has stated that the 2027 presidential election will be a one-sided contest, describing it as “Tinubu versus Tinubu.”
Speaking to journalists at the National Assembly Complex on Tuesday, Kalu asserted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu faces no serious opposition that could threaten his bid for re-election.
He compared the forthcoming presidential race to the recent Anambra governorship election, where Governor Charles Soludo secured his re-election with minimal resistance.
Kalu maintained that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) continues to enjoy broad support across the country. He credited the president’s leadership for implementing policies that, in his view, are beginning to stabilize the economy and improve the nation’s security situation.
“Has he gotten anyone contesting against him? The election is Tinubu vs Tinubu, just like Soludo vs Soludo. The President has no opposition. Our party is fully on ground and with the people”, Kalu said
The former Abia State governor emphasized that, given the current political climate, Tinubu’s dominance remains unchallenged and the APC’s hold on power appears firm heading into 2027.
His comments have since generated reactions within political circles, with some viewing them as an early declaration of confidence in Tinubu’s continued influence ahead of the next general election.
