Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe recently shared the reasons for his deep respect for women during an interview with Saturday Beats. He acknowledged the significant impact women have had on his career and expressed heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering support.
He stated, “I don’t think I would be where I am today without the women in my life. That’s why I have immense respect for them. They have been incredibly supportive. Onyinye Udeze took a big chance on me at a pivotal point in my career, and it was one of the best things that ever happened to me because she opened many doors for me. Uduak Isong also took a chance on me.”
Uzor continued by mentioning other supportive figures in his life: “Dabby, Blessing Egbe, and a lady we affectionately call Lepa in the industry have all been very supportive throughout my career. They have provided me with platforms to showcase my talent, and I cannot deny that women have been instrumental in my journey.”
When asked about what contributes to his versatility as an actor, Uzor explained, “I exercise my acting skills regularly. I watch a lot of movies—especially those featuring great Nigerian actors, and even some that are less skillful. I’m not saying there are bad actors, but by observing weaker performances, I identify what not to do and how to improve.
“I continually work on my range, deepen my understanding of the craft, and focus on timing. As actors, we rely heavily on our brains, so I strive to become more comfortable with the art and craft of acting.”
