The Lagos State Police Command has cleared the air on reports claiming it arrested Samuel Daniels, the brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.

Naijaonpoint reports that the clarification came on Tuesday, following online reports that Lagos Police officers had detained Samuel amid the recent online dispute involving his family and Senator Ned Nwoko.

According to the Command, the arrest was not carried out by its personnel but by officers from Abuja, who arrived in Lagos with a valid warrant to execute their assignment.

It explained that Samuel was only kept at Ogombo Police Division briefly because the arrest happened late at night, and he was later moved out of the state for further investigation.

Spokesperson of the Lagos Police command, Superintendent of Police, SP Abimbola Adebisi, in a message to Vanguard said:

“Good evening. The individual in question was not arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command. The officers who effected the arrest came from Abuja with a duly signed arrest warrant. The suspect was temporarily detained at Ogombo Division due to the late hour, pending further procedural action.”

The police statement was issued after Regina Daniels’ elder brother, Lawrence Daniels, alleged that Ned Nwoko was behind what he described as harassment against his family.

Lawrence had posted online that Nwoko should be held responsible if anything happened to his siblings.

As of the time of filing this report, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command had not released any official comment on the arrest or stated the reason behind it.
