FCT Minister Wike Speaks on Becoming a Pastor
Naijaonpoint Media reports that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has openly admitted that he does not see himself becoming a pastor, saying he lacks the calling to minister God’s word.
Wike made the remark on Wednesday during the commissioning of the Ikot-Esu-Otomo-Azumini Road in Akwa Ibom State, where he commended Governor Umo Eno’s humility and urged him to continue praying for him.
“Continue to do good. Forgiveness is not a weak point; rather, it’s strength. It doesn’t matter what happens, relate with people who have helped you before. It does not mean you are weak but that you have taken a decision to move Akwa Ibom forward, and that’s the decision I will continue to support you,” Wike said.
In his usual candour, the former Rivers State Governor contrasted himself with Eno, acknowledging the governor’s spiritual calling while stressing that his own strength lies elsewhere.
“But all those you relate with, continue to give them their respect. You are a humble man, a man of God. The truth is, me, I don’t know if I can be a pastor,” he said.
“It takes a man of strong character. Continue to pray for me because God has given it to you. For me, I will continue to support you. You that God said should be praying, pray, while I will continue to support you. The politics I believe is that you do for me, I do for you; you fall for me, I fall for you.”
Wike’s remarks drew laughter and applause from the audience, underscoring his reputation for blunt political commentary mixed with humour.
