Wike Speaks On Encounter With Naval Officer, Yerima

Wike Nyesom

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that the recent encounter with a naval officer, Lt. A.M. Yarima, is bound to happen.

Naijaonpoint recalls that Yerima, while on duty with other security personnel, clashed with Wike over a disputed land site in the Gaduwa District.

The confrontation, captured on video, sparked widespread public debate and prompted intervention from the Presidency, which subsequently halted the demolition exercise at the site.

Following the incident, military veterans nationwide criticised Wike for verbally insulting the officer and rejected calls for disciplinary action against Yarima.

While fielding questions during his monthly media parley in Abuja, Wike acknowledged that he is human and that things cannot always go smoothly.

He said, “Like I said, I am human; you can’t expect things to be smooth all the time. I don’t have any regrets. Every decision I have set, I have been able to achieve. Yes, there could be one or two setbacks, it’s bound to happen. But, like I said, I don’t have regrets about any decision I have taken.

“In politics, you expect to see such situations. If they happen, that shouldn’t make you think there are problems you cannot overcome, and we have still surmounted them.”
