Wike Unveils Fresh Developmental Project Plan In FCT Rural Areas

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesome Wike, has pledged to develop 10 schools across rural communities in Abuja as part of efforts to improve access to quality education in the territory.

Wike announced this plan during a media chat on Monday, assuring residents that the school development scheme would commence immediately.

He explained that the initiative would be spearheaded by the Mandate Secretary of Education, with a focus on addressing educational gaps in less developed parts of the FCT.

“I promise ten schools; as I leave here, I will tell the mandate secretary to set up the scheme. It will be in the rural areas,” the minister stated.

Naijaonpoint reports that Wike’s pledge comes amid criticism that the minister has focused heavily on road and infrastructure projects while other sectors, including education, have been sidelined.

Wike, however, defended his administration’s priorities, noting that it is not feasible to develop every sector simultaneously within a short time.

“It is impossible to develop every sector in under two years,” he said, assuring that education would now receive more attention as part of a balanced development plan for the FCT.

Meanwhile, the former Governor of Borno State and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ali Modu Sheriff, has said that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is working.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the former senator said he ignores the minister’s alleged rascality because he is working.

He noted that Wike’s works in Abuja speak volumes, stressing that there are President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ministers who are not working but lying to Nigerians.

He said: “I’m not a fan of Wike. Wike’s character is that of a rascal, but you cannot take away from him that he has changed Abuja. From the time Abuja was created up to this moment, nobody has worked like him.

“So people like me will ignore his rascality because he is working. There are ministers that are not working but lying to Nigerians. It is not the president’s problem.”
