Kinsmen of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, have endorsed Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was made on Tuesday at the 2025 Eneka Day Celebration, held at State Primary School One, Eneka, under the theme: “Unity: Our Strength for Progress.”
Residents of Eneka in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, where Wike hails from, lauded Governor Fubara’s leadership and emphasised that Wike “is no longer governor of the state,” noting that the number one office belongs solely to Fubara.
The event drew community leaders, traditional rulers, and residents from the eleven communities that make up the clan, who gathered to cast their vote of confidence in the governor.
Speaking for the clan, Lawson Chukwu, Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) of Eneka, reaffirmed the people’s unwavering loyalty and support.
Chukwu commended the Fubara administration for its development efforts in the area and appealed for attention to the construction of the community’s internal roads.
He also called for the upgrade of the Eneka traditional stool from second‑class to first‑class status, saying the recognition would bolster the people’s cultural heritage and unity.
Also addressing the gathering, political leader of the Eneka Clan and President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Sen. John Azuta‑Mbata, declared that the people of Eneka fully recognise Fubara “as the only Governor of Rivers State.”
He pledged the clan’s continued friendship and support, describing the relationship as “firm and unbroken.”
Responding to the endorsement, Governor Fubara expressed appreciation for the show of unity and support by the Eneka people.
He assured the community that his administration would prioritise the restoration of deteriorated internal roads, noting that many were damaged by heavy‑duty trucks during the construction of flyovers.
“I promise you significant and reasonable intervention to improve road access within your clan and enhance your quality of life,” he said.
Fubara also directed the Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Community Affairs to commence the process for the upgrade of the Eneka traditional stool from second‑class to first‑class status.
“A peaceful and united community makes it easier for the government to deliver meaningful development without internal conflict,” he added.
