Valencia sporting director Miguel Angel Corona has expressed satisfaction at Sadiq Umar’s performance since he joined the club in the summer, but he is still coy about the possibility of making his loan deal permanent at the end of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.

Sadiq has been impressive for Valencia since his half-season loan transfer form Real Sociedad in the January transfer window. The Super Eagles star has contributed six goals in 15 appearances for Los Ches since then, grabbing some important goals for them.

Due to his performances, there have been talks that Valencia would want to activate the option to buy clause in his contract to keep him beyond the current campaign.

Los Ches would need around €10 million to make the 28-year-old striker’s deal permanent. But when the club’s sporting director Corona was queried about the possibility of signing Sadiq, he was coy as he stated that the team is only focused on ending the campaign on a high note.

“Well, we want, above all, to confirm our objective. That’s the most important thing,” Corona said, per Eldesmarque.

“We’re very happy (with Sadiq). His numbers also speak for themselves. He’s contributed a lot, and not just in goals, which are numbers, but also in all the work he contributes to the team, as of course all his teammates do. And as Carlos rightly points out, they are managing as a group to raise the level of each player for the good of the team.”

Sadiq Umar has done enough to get a good look in the summer

Sadiq Umar has been quite brilliant in recent weeks. This is a big improvement from his time at Real Sociedad when he struggled badly.

Now that Sadiq is looking like he is back to his best, most clubs in Spain will give him a good look in the summer. Moreover from what Miguel Angel Corona has said, Valencia has been impressed and would likely trigger the buyout clause in the summer.

But in case they don’t, some mid-table or European football-chasing clubs in La Liga or other top five leagues clubs would be willing to get him.
