Chief Munir Balogun, father of Afrobeats sensation Ayodeji Balogun, better known as Wizkid, has addressed the ongoing rivalry between his son and fellow artist Davido.

In light of the tensions that have arisen between the two music stars and their fan bases, Chief Balogun has shared his perspective on the situation.

Speaking candidly, Chief Balogun revealed that he had advised Wizkid to remain unfazed by the provocations coming from Davido’s supporters.

He emphasized the importance of focus and urged his son to avoid unnecessary distractions that could derail his musical journey.

The rivalry between Wizkid and Davido has been a topic of discussion within the music industry and among fans, with both artists boasting massive followings and contributing significantly to the global popularity of Afrobeats.

Chief Balogun, in an interview with Punch Newspapers, disclosed, “I told my son that he shouldn’t look or listen to whatever the boys who are supporters of Davido are saying. The supporters are only looking for what they will say to collect money and all of that.”

He explained that fans often seek attention and stir up controversy for their benefit, adding that Wizkid should rise above the noise.

“They are just looking for what they are going to eat and I told him not to pay much attention to them,” he added.

The elder Balogun also mentioned that the rivalry is something he has observed online.
