Wolverine Reckons With His Past With Erstwhile Modern Captain America David Colton As “ARMAGEDDON” Approaches
Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon #2, written by Chip Zdarsky, with art by Luca Maresca; Available February 2026 From Marvel Comics
According to Marvel Comics, 2026’s ARMAGEDDON event will be the company’s most consequential crossover in over twenty years, since Avengers: Disassembled. Before it was even announced, author Chip Zdarsky told fans he was laying the groundwork for Marvel’s future in his new Captain America series. Now, readers know that included the introduction of David Colton.
Captain America’s first arc sent the freshly-revived and re-enlisted Steve Rogers on a mission to Doctor Doom’s nation of Latveria alongside his contemporary counterpart, the brand-new Marvel character David Colton. During the course of the mission, the truth about America’s involvement in Doom’s Latverian regime led Colton to snap and go AWOL.
Now, the synopsis for Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon #2 reveals Colton’s role:
Long-buried secrets tying together Wolverine, Nuke, and newcomer Dave Colton finally erupt, sending Logan’s pursuit of a vanished Super-Soldier into chaos. With the darkest corners of his past now weaponized against him, the question becomes: can Wolverine survive a war he helped create?
Much of ARMAGEDDON remains under wraps at Marvel, but this is another puzzle piece being put into place. Fans questioned what was next for Colton after his breakdown in Captain America #4, and now it’s clear he is still going to factor into Marvel’s short-term future.
Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon #1
Wolverine and Captain America’s shared history with the Super Soldier Project, which evolved into Weapon X, is set to take center stage in Weapons of Armageddon, as Marvel digs into its past to set the foundation for its future. David Colton will be a part of that, as will the villain Nuke, another product of the program.
ARMAGEDDON isn’t coming until summer 2026, but the lead-up starts in February with Chip Zdarsky’s Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon, and the return of his Captain America series for its next arc. Marvel fans should follow these two stories closely in order to be on the cutting edge of Marvel’s next big era.
More information about ARMAGEDDON and its related books will be released in due time. For now, there are still a lot of gaps in fans’ knowledge of the upcoming event, other than that it is going to be lore-shattering, and that the Marvel Universe will never be the same afterward.
Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon #1 releases February 18, 2026 from Marvel Comics; Weapons of Armageddon #2 will be available in March.
