Warning! Major spoilers ahead for Laura Kinney: Sabretooth #1!

Wolverine’s kids are going to war in Marvel’s dark Age of Revelation future. X-Men fans are used to Laura Kinney operating as Marvel’s next gen Wolverine, but now she has been recast as the new Sabretooth, serving as an agent of the villain Revelation. Shockingly, her next targets are Logan’s biological son Akihiro and her own clone, Gabby Kinney.

Laura Kinney: Sabretooth #1 is written by Erica Schultz, with art by Valentina Pinti. Fans were already surprised upon learning Laura would take up the Sabretooth mantle in Age of Revelation, but pitting her against her own adopted siblings is a heartbreaking route for the series to go.

Especially if, by the issue’s end, she does what Wolverines, and Sabretooths, do best.

Laura Kinney: Sabretooth #1 for X-Men Age of Revelation

The Age of Revelation slate of titles offers a lot of intrigue, with previews begging plenty of questions. That said, among the things fans have been most eager to learn has been why, and how, Laura Kinney has forsaken the name Wolverine, and instead become the new Sabretooth, complete with her own version of the villain’s iconic costume.

The other big question is why Laura is working for Revelation. The villain is using his powers to control many former heroes, including Wolverine himself, but it is unclear if that is the case with Laura Kinney, or to what extent. Her target being her siblings, Akihiro and Gabby, makes this question all the more urgent.

If Laura is acting against her own will and instincts, tragedy is all but certain in Laura Kinney: Sabretooth #1. At least one member of Wolverine’s family will die. Yet if she is doing what she believes is right, however morally questionable, there might be a sliver of hope that all three make it out alive.

It will be heartbreaking if Laura, as Sabretooth, sheds either or both of her siblings’ blood in Laura Kinney: Sabretooth #1. It will also be a litmus test for how dark Age of Revelation will be willing to go. If Akihiro and Gabby do manage to survive, though, their sister hunting them down does provide an opportunity.

That is, for both of them to have a showcase moment as Marvel protagonists. Gabby, in particular, is obviously a natural substitute for Laura as a hero, given that they are genetically identical. Akihiro is a reformed Marvel villain himself, one who has suffered greatly as both a bad guy and good guy, and deserves a successful heroic arc.

The safest bet, though, is that he will suffer further at the hands of his sister, Laura Kinney. Age of Revelation is tearing the Marvel Universe apart, and it just sundered Wolverine’s family in the process, setting up one of the crossover’s biggest tragic moments as his children come into conflict with one another.

Laura Kinney: Sabretooth #1 will be available October 8, 2025 from Marvel Comics.
