Wolverhampton Wanderers have emerged as serious contenders to sign highly-rated Getafe midfielder Christantus Uche, Footynaija.com reports.
Following the departure of Tommy Doyle, Wolves manager Vitor Pereira is in the market for a dynamic and versatile presence in the middle of the park.
Uche, 22, enjoyed a breakout 2024/25 season in La Liga, featuring in 33 matches, netting four goals and registering six assists.
The Nigerian international’s ability to operate in a variety of roles — from deep-lying playmaker to attacking midfield and even centre-forward — has drawn widespread admiration.
According to reports from Spanish outlet AS via SportWitness, Wolves face competition from fellow Premier League outfits Leeds United and Brighton & Hove Albion, while interest has also been registered from Italy. Getafe have reportedly placed a €20m (£17.4m) valuation on the midfielder.
Ehile the player is not understood to be agitating for a move, he is believed to be open to a switch to England’s top flight.
Wolves, however, may face a tactical puzzle should they land the Nigerian. With André and João Gomes cemented at the base of midfield, and Marshall Munetsi vying for the box-to-box slot, Uche might need to make his mark initially as a high-impact substitute — an area where his intelligence and physicality could prove invaluable.
Should the move materialise, AD Ceuta, Uche’s former club, will receive 12.5% of any transfer profit.
