It is a joyous moment for Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola as she gets ranked among the top highest-grossing producers.

The Yoruba actress, who made her delve into the Cinema world with the release of her movie, Queen Lateefah, has been crowned the second-highest producer. The movie star beat the likes of Odunlade Adekola, Toyin Abraham, Eniola Ajao, and others to achieve this milestone.

Topping the list of the highest-grossing producers was Funke Akindele, who made over N1.1 billion at the box office. Wumi and Judith Audu had a tie as they both grossed N365 million at the box office.

Expressing joy over her feat, Wumi stated that she is still grateful as she noted how she and Judith Audu did their thing. Toriola didn’t fail to congratulate the others on their achievement.

Wumi Toriola becomes second highest-grossing producer

Wunmi’s entrance to the world of Cinema movie has undoubtedly won her awards and broken records. Despite it being her first time making movies for the cinema, Wumi earned 57.7 million on its opening weekend. The huge feat made it the highest Nollywood opening weekend for a non-holiday weekend and the highest-ever Nollywood opening weekend by an independent distributor.

Her record breaking feat had won her an award at the box office. The Yoruba actress was awarded the box office champion of 2024 by the National Film and Video Censors Board NFVCB.

In September , Toriola had expressed excitement as one of her movies on YouTube hit 4 million views in just a month. Describing it as a big deal, she gave a thumbs up to herself, her cast, crew, and fans.

Back in July, Wumi had celebrated as she hit 100k subscribers on YouTube, which was undoubtedly a big feat. Declaring the day a monumental one, Wumi expressed how delighted she was, noting how it reflects the strong connection she and her team have built with their subscribers and millions of viewers.

To celebrate her remarkable achievement, Wumi had penned a heartfelt gratitude to Nigerians.
