Xbox Makes 3 Games Free For 48 Hours, No Game Pass Required

If you’re looking for something new to play this weekend, Xbox has just made three great games completely free to download and play. The best part? You don’t need Xbox Game Pass. These freebies are completely, 100 percent free.

The only catch is that you only have 48 hours to get your hands on these free games. After that, the offer expires, and you’ll be forced to pay to play them like some common fool.

Xbox Free Games Offering Lasts 48 Hours

Don’t say we didn’t warn you

As part of Xbox’s weekly Free Play Days promotion, there are five new games available to play between now and Sunday, November 30. Of those five, three do not require Xbox Game Pass to download and play.

So, what three games can you dive into this weekend? And more importantly, which one will you focus on? You can’t complete ’em all, sadly. Or maybe you can. I don’t know your life.

The free games on offer are:

  • Hypnospace Outlaw – A wonderfully strange 90s internet simulator. You probably actually could finish this one in one sitting, to be fair.
  • Let’s Build a Zoo – The little-known video game prequel to Matt Damon’s We Bought A Zoo. Well, not really. It’s just a fun little management sim.
  • Biped 2 – A co-op action adventure game that you can play with between 2-4 friends. Another one you probably genuinely could finish before Sunday if you put your mind to it.

Not a bad mix at all. Biped 2 is especially worth a look if you’re fixing to play with friends this weekend. We reviewed the original Biped back in 2020 and loved it.

Xbox Game Pass Subscribers Can Grab Two Bonus Games

You seriously wanted more?

If you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber and the three games above don’t quite tickle your fancy, Xbox confirmed two bonus games as part of Free Play Days.

From now until November 30, Game Pass users can also download old-school RPG Hammerwatch 2 and souls-like The First Berserker: Khazan, the latter of which we actually called the best souls-like in years.

Here’s how to start playing:

Scroll down and find and install the games on each of the individual game details pages on Xbox.com. Clicking through will send you to the Microsoft Store, where you must be signed in to see the option to install with your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and Essential membership. To download on console, click on the Subscriptions tab in the Xbox Store and navigate down to the Free Play Days collection on your Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S.

So there you have it, Xbox gamers. Get stuck in and enjoy a smorgasbord of shiny new games right now.
