Yaya Mayweather, the daughter of boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, shared an emotional message on X this week, apologizing to the family of a woman she stabbed back in 2020.
In April 2020, Yaya was involved in a violent altercation at rapper NBA YoungBoy’s Houston home that left Lapattra Jacobs, the mother of one of YoungBoy’s children, injured. Yaya was arrested and later pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
In 2022, she was sentenced to six years of probation.
Now, at 24, Yaya says she’s ready to move forward with honesty and healing.
“I know I’m blessed, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been through things,” she wrote. “I’ve made mistakes, and I’m still learning every day. I want to be better, not just for me but for my child.”
Yaya went on to apologize directly to Lapattra and to her parents, Floyd Mayweather and Melissa Brim.
“I’m not some spoiled, stuck-up girl… maybe a little mean sometimes,” she joked, before adding, “But I truly want to right my wrongs while I can. I’m sorry if I’ve ever embarrassed or hurt my family.”
Yaya ended her message by praising her parents’ influence, saying they have always guided her with love and discipline. “My parents raised me right. They still parent me to this day and believe me, they don’t let much slide,” she shared.
