The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has denounced the horrific massacre of defenceless civilians in Benue State and urged his operatives to enhance and broaden their intelligence-gathering network to apprehend the offenders and ensure they face justice.
Naijaonpoint reports that the National Public Relations Officer at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja, CSC Afolabi Babawale, stated that the CG made these remarks during a planned visit to the state for an on-site evaluation of the situation, accompanied by other security leaders.
Audi expressed his condolences to the governor and the residents of Yelwata in Guma Local Government Area, who suffered the loss of their loved ones in the attack, and assured that the Corps is collaborating closely with other security agencies to put an end to this barbaric act.
He condemned the senseless killing of defenceless women and children in the recent tragic incident, emphasising that there is no justification for the brutal murder of innocent citizens.
Consequently, the NSCDC boss issued a directive to the Zonal Commander and the State Commandant to effectively deploy covert operatives, special forces, and all tactical units throughout every corner of the state, while simultaneously working with other stakeholders to improve well-coordinated operations for a renewed offensive against the malevolent perpetrators.
“These killings must stop, and we must be very strategic, decisive, and resilient in our approach to the restoration of peace and order in the state.
“All hands must be on deck. There must be maximum deployment of all special forces, counter-terrorism unit, and intelligence operatives for both covert and overt operations.
“Just as Mr. President has directed, the perpetrators of this heinous crime must be brought to book, and we need to be on top of our game to make this happen,” the CG stated.
