Rapper YNW Melly has been denied bond again and will remain behind bars, his double murder re-trial kicks off in September.

Attorneys for Melly had tried to get the rapper freed from jail by filing a motion for pre-trial release back in March. His attorneys claim that the rapper, who has been in jail for six years, is being abused by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. YNW Melly has reportedly been repeatedly denied access to speak to his family and one of his attorneys.

The Florida rapper is accused of executing a cold-blooded plot to kill his close friends Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas and Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams in Miramar back in 2018. Prosecutors allege Melly not only pulled the trigger but also staged the scene to look like a drive-by shooting. His affiliate, YNW Bortlen, is also set to face trial.

In October, Florida prosecutors hit Melly with a new witness tampering charge. Authorities claim the artist, who they say is affiliated with the Bloods, tried to silence a key witness during his first murder trial, which ended in a mistrial.

According to court documents, Melly orchestrated the alleged interference from behind bars by using fellow inmates to make phone calls and deliver handwritten messages to street-level gang members to stop that witness from ever taking the stand.
