Nollywood star Luchy Donalds has sent a powerful message to aspiring actresses, cautioning them that their bodies won’t make them stars in the industry. In a recent interview with Naija Times, Donalds emphasized the importance of dedication, authentic talent, and a deep connection with God.
“Just be yourself. Put in the work and understand that in Nollywood, your body cannot make you a star,” Donalds advised. “Know yourself. Pray to God. All you need in this industry is God.” She stressed that having God as one’s pilot in life and career is crucial, adding that opportunities will come even from people who may not necessarily love you.
Donalds’ conviction is evident in her own career choices. Despite receiving lucrative offers from Netflix, she has turned down three major roles due to their requirement for nudity. “I told them at the end of the day, it is my face that is going to show, and people are going to see,” she explained.
For Donalds, staying authentic and relevant in the industry boils down to God’s grace. “My journey in this industry and life in general has just been full of grace, and I’m so grateful to God for it. Everything just comes to me with ease. It is just grace and God.” Her journey in Nollywood serves as a testament to her beliefs, and her message to aspiring actresses is clear: focus on developing your craft and putting God first.
