Your Pixel 9 could soon generate to-do lists from your calls via AI

The integration of artificial intelligence into mobile devices has allowed manufacturers to develop incredible features that would have been impossible before. AI models have proven especially useful for analyzing content and generating summaries. In line with that, the Google Pixel 9 series could receive a feature that generates a to-do list from your calls.

Currently, the Google Phone app already includes a “Call Notes” option on the Pixel 9 series. As its name suggests, the feature takes notes from the call and generates a summary that you can revisit whenever you want. It’s especially useful for very long calls where a lot of important things were discussed that you need to remember. Whether it’s a specific date or a person’s name, you’ll be able to check the summary whenever you want to get the information.

Google Phone app for Pixel 9 series could offer AI-generated to-do lists from your calls

Now, Android Authority has spotted references to an AI-powered feature for Google Phone that could automatically generate to-do lists from your calls. That implies that the AI model will be able to interpret whether you’re talking about pending tasks. The feature will then add a to-do list to the Call Notes summary. The strings reveal that users will be able to copy and even share the lists.

The source spotted the strings within the code of the most recent Google Phone v156.0.702757710 APK. What’s even more impressive is that the AI to-do lists will work entirely on-device. That means the Gemini Nano model will handle things behind the scenes. This is a plus for the privacy-conscious, as the content of conversations will never leave their devices.

Since the AI to-do lists appear to be an improvement to the current Call Notes feature of the Pixel 9 series, it’s no surprise that it works offline. After all, Call Notes doesn’t rely on the internet to generate summaries either. This is a taste of what local AI models for mobile devices can achieve when used correctly.

Blocked spam call counter also in development

The source found another new feature that could arrive soon to the Google Phone app. The report claims that Google’s Dialer will display the number of spam calls blocked by the Call Screen shield. This will let you be aware of the true impact the feature is having on your day-to-day life. It will also let you know how prone your phone number is to receive spam calls.

There are no details on when these features will arrive to the Google Phone app. Hopefully more news will come out soon.
