The 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party, Peter Obi has celebrated Goodluck Jonathan, a former president of Nigeria, as he turns 68.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State described Jonathan as an elder statesman with a calm leadership disposition.
He also said that the former president is endowed with an outstanding patriotic lifestyle and respect for democracy which is worthy of emulation.
According to Obi, Jonathan’s respect for democratic principles and the rule of law has continued to stand as a reference to the Nigerian and African political space.
“Today, I join millions of Nigerians in celebrating my very dear elder brother, His Excellency Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, as he marks his 68th birthday.
“His years of statesmanship, calm disposition in leadership, outstanding patriotism and exemplary respect for democracy continue to stand as a reference point for our nation and our continent.
“On this special day, I pray that God Almighty grants him more healthy, fruitful and happy years. Also, grant him more wisdom, strength, continued contributions to peace, and nation-building, inspiring generations to come.
“Happy Birthday Your Excellency!” Obi wrote on X.
