According To NewsVista Reporter, former presidential spokesman Reno Omokri has criticized calls for real-time electronic transmission of election results in Nigeria, noting that even the United States does not have such a system.
Speaking on Channels Television on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, Omokri questioned the feasibility of the idea, saying, “You are asking Starlink to give us the ability to do real-time electronic transfer. Do you know the country where Starlink originates from? Even in the United States, there is no real-time transmission of election results.”
He explained that what the public often sees on TV in the U.S. are media projections and exit polls, which can differ from official results. He cited the 2000 U.S. presidential election, where early media calls incorrectly led Al Gore to concede before the results were finalized.
Omokri concluded by emphasizing that while he supports electronic transmission of results, Nigerians must understand its limits and not confuse media projections with official outcomes.
