Yunusa Tanko, national coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, says the movement will remain in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and respect the outcome of its presidential primary, even if Atiku Abubakar emerges as the flagbearer.
Tanko spoke on Thursday during an interview on ‘The Morning Brief,’ a Channels Television programme monitored by NAIJAONPOINT .
“As democrats, we will go in there and contest the presidential primaries equitably well with every contestant based on democratic tenets,” he said.
“We believe that at the end of it all, Mr Peter Obi will come out on top with the large teaming population that he is bringing into the ADC.”
Responding to what would happen if Atiku Abubakar wins the ADC presidential primary, Yunusa said the Obidient Movement will take “democratic decisions.”
“We will remain in the party and give the party the lease of life it demands democratically,” he added.
Yunusa noted that the ADC began to enjoy wider national appeal after the former Anambra State governor aligned with its structure.
“With all due respect to the ADC, it got its traction when people came around and agreed,” Yunusa said.
“The vehicle of ADC kick-started yesterday with one ignition kick, and that is the excitement that His Excellency, Mr Peter Obi, has brought to it.”
Recall that NAIJAONPOINT reported that the former presidential candidate of the LP on Wednesday formally exited the party and joined the ADC.
