Yusuf Approves Fresh Appointments, Promotions To Boost Service Delivery

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved a fresh round of appointments and promotions as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery across critical sectors of the state.

The development was announced on Wednesday in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Yusuf appointed Abdulkadir Balarabe Kankarofi (Alhajiji) as Special Adviser on Humanitarian Affairs in the Office of the Executive Governor.

Kankarofi, who previously served as Senior Special Assistant on Protocol I to the governor, now takes on a broader humanitarian portfolio.

Also named was Aisha Tamburawa, who has been appointed Special Adviser to the Governor on Positive Propaganda. Tamburawa formerly served as a Supervisory Councillor in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area.

At the Water Resources Engineering and Construction Agency, Mukhtar Yusuf was promoted from Deputy Managing Director to Managing Director, while Zakari Usman Balan was appointed as the new Deputy Managing Director.

In another strategic move, Mukhtar Bello Maisudan, a senior lecturer at Bayero University, has been appointed Executive Secretary of the Kano State Scholarship Board, a key position in overseeing educational funding policies.

Similarly, Abba Kankarofi was elevated from Deputy Managing Director to Managing Director of the Kano Road and Maintenance Agency, a body pivotal to infrastructure upkeep across the state.

Governor Yusuf also approved the appointment of Musayyib Kawu Ungoggo as Managing Director of the Kano Zoological Garden. Ungoggo has held various political roles in the past, including serving as a councillor and Senior Special Reporter.

In his charge to the newly appointed and promoted officials, the governor emphasised that their roles are anchored in people‑centred governance.

“The governor approved these appointments and promotions as part of ongoing efforts to reposition key institutions for efficiency, accountability and effective service delivery,” Dawakin Tofa said in the statement.

Yusuf charged the officials to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating dedication, transparency and commitment to the people of the state.

“He urged the appointees to see their new responsibilities as a call to serve the people diligently and contribute meaningfully to the success of the Kano First Agenda,” the statement added.

The governor reiterated that his administration remains committed to strengthening public institutions and delivering people‑oriented governance across Kano State, aligning with his broader policy priorities.
