The Kano State Government has directed the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to enforce traffic laws strictly, particularly compliance with traffic lights in the metropolis.

This move aims to promote public safety and urban development.

This is contained in a statement issued by Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa in Kano on Monday.

The directive followed the government’s significant investment in modernising Kano, including installing state-of-the-art street lighting systems, road signage, and traffic infrastructure.

He said that in spite of these efforts, many residents and motorists have ignored traffic signs and violated safety protocols.

Dawakin Tofa said, “The

government has warned that violators will face the full weight of the law and has directed that public officials who interfere with road traffic officers will be reported to the appropriate authority.

“Only emergency service vehicles are permitted to bypass traffic rules when responding to emergencies.

“This move underscores the determination of the Governor  Yusuf administration to build a safe, modern, and livable mega city for all.” (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
